I love revisiting flower fields. Even after some spectacular flowers die off, others always seem to appear in their place. This is the third time I've used this flower field, each time with different flowers. It works out well with my need for change!
My little Ms. A still loves to be the subject of my camera, so I was able to easily talk her into a mini shoot this day. And what little girl doesn't love flowers? It was a no brainer. :)
It's always funny to me how I'll have something in mind for a shoot and it morphs into something else. I'm always amazed at what influences my shooting/editing style. Lately I've been feeling like all moms at some point feel - like my baby is growing up too quickly right before my eyes. I've got a pressing need to capture her (all of them, really - but unfortunately I wasn't into photography when my other two were younger) in a way that embodies childhood, girlhood. I started out with thoughts of bright, cheery, colorful shots with these lovely flowers and her fun dress. But I ended up with something else.
Lately I've been thinking a lot about the song "In My Arms" by Plumb. It never fails to tug at my heartstrings whenever I hear it (ok fine - it typically leaves me sobbing a bit!). I hear that song in my head when I see these shots.
your baby blues
so full of wonder
your curley cues
your contagious smile
and as I watch
you start to grow up
all I can do is hold you tight
knowing
clouds will rage up
storms will race in
but you will be safe
in my arms
rains will pour down
waves will crash around
but you will be safe
in my arms
story books are full of fairy tales
of kings and queens and the bluest skies
My heart is torn
just in knowing
you'll someday see
the truth from lies
Castles they might crumble
dreams may not come true
but you are never all alone
because I will always
always love you
when the
clouds will rage up
storms will race in
but you will be safe
in my arms
rains will pour down
waves will crash around
but you will be safe
in my arms
Thanks for indulging with me in my mommy-moment, my next post will definitely be more cheery and fun, I promise!
