I love meeting new babies. It's so amazing to me how different yet similar they all are. New life is pretty awesome. And this new life also happens to be my cousin's daughter!

Life!! Yikes. I have been so silent around these parts lately. With school crunch time here, I have little time for much else right now. But I AM busy with kg.leaf photography too! I have another session to blog after this one, please bear with me while I try and juggle schooling my girls and this. :)

Charlotte Wren | Maryland Fine Art & Newborn Photographer
What a beautiful name for a beautiful baby. :) This post is so long overdue, I hope you all will forgive me.
I had the pleasure of shooting this little doll's birth, and Mom's maternity. Such an adorable little family. Baby Charlotte had the most beautiful red hair at birth, I was so excited to see it even more brilliant when I came for her newborn pictures a week later.
When talking to Mom and Dad about what type of session they wanted for their new little one, they wanted something natural, comfortable and simple. What better way to do that than in their home. Everyone's already comfortable, and less stressed. These are the types of sessions I have been aiming to move towards for a while now, and starting today these are the only types of newborn sessions I will offer. I will no longer be shooting posed babies in/on props. This is much more my style, and baby is always so much more relaxed. It makes for much better pictures!
Thank you again Mom and Dad for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture precious memories of your sweet little one!

Love for the Lillards | Maryland Fine Art Photographer
I've dreaded writing this post. I suppose that's why I've been putting it off. But the time is now right, and I hope you will all bear with me as I give you a piece of my heart.
As many of you know, my dear friend Chrissi Lillard and her family had a house fire on the night of January 31st. They lost everything they owned. They lost their pets. They lost two of their beloved little girls.
I've had the pleasure of having them in front of my lens a few times, the most recent time being this past October for the FRM minis.

I've used these past few weeks to help Chrissi in the ways I know how, and to try and be a comfort to her as best as I can. I've grieved, for myself and for my friend. I'm now ready to do something more to help.
Chrissi and her husband want to build a public park in memorial of their precious girls. If you don't know Chrissi, you don't know just how generous she has always been. One of the most generous people I've ever met. The fact that they want to build a park for the public just proves that point. She is amazing. And this is where I come in.
I am going to be holding mini sessions to help her raise more money for the park. When I talked to her about it, she said to me "I don't want you to have to do all of that work." What she doesn't realize is....I'm honored to do it. So I'm hoping you all will want to help me help her make this a reality for them.
Mini dates:
Thursday March, 14th 4-5:30
Saturday March 16th, 4-5:30
Thursday March 21st, 4-5:30
Saturday March 23rd, 4-5:30
Each slot is 10-15 minutes long. Each slot is $150, and you will get 5 digital images to keep. 100% of the amount you give will go directly to the park fund.
At this time, these are the dates I have available for March. But if I find that there is an overwhelming interest, I will consider adding more dates.

Even if you cannot attend one of the minis, I hope you will join me in continuing to pray for the Lillard family. I also hope to see you out at the many other fundraisers that are still occurring.

It's a.....!!! | Maryland Fine Art & Maternity Photographer
It's a gender reveal!! My sister in law and I cooked up a really, really fun way to share the news of the sex of her baby. I'm so excited to be a part of this, and to help share the news with the world! I had so much fun, I really look forward to doing more of these in the future.
Can you see what that says? It says "you can plan now with confidence". How cool is that??
And the moment you've all been waiting for!! :)
I was able to sneak the big brother in for a few shots. According to him, his mom is having a "brudder" named Javin, just like him. Haha!
Congratulations you guys on the upcoming birth of your baby BOY! :) Can't wait to meet my new nephew.

Birth Day - Christmas Edition | Maryland Fine Art & Birth Photographer
I absolutely love shooting births. It is by far my favorite of all of the things I do. Even when things get a little unpredictable. Well, I should say because things become unpredictable, it keeps it interesting!
Remember this couple? Mom had a due date of Christmas Day. It was her first baby. I thought the chances of baby being born on Christmas Day are really slim to none. The percentage of babies born on their actual due date is very tiny! Lo and behold...I got the text Christmas Eve that mom was in labor.
I always try and get to the hospital around 6 cm dilated. That gives me some time to capture the contraction stage and the between moments before the really hard work comes in. I was in close contact with Mom during her labor, so again imagine my surprise when last I heard she was at 4 cm, and the next text I received was that she was ready to push! It was a mad rush, but I got there around 9 pm with plenty of time to spare.
This was probably the most determined and focused mom I've ever met during labor! Smiling, asking her husband how he was holding up between contractions and pushing. After nearly 4 HOURS of pushing, without an epidural, Mom and Dad finally got to meet their Christmas morning surprise. Just before 1 AM on Christmas Day, their little princess entered the world. Hearing them say "It's a girl? We got a girl!!" almost made me wish I had been patient enough to wait until baby's birth day to find out the sex of my babies!
A hefty 8 and a half pounds!
